BACKGROUND ANALYSIS FOR ABC4All PRIMARY SCHOOL
Local ABC4All / SIERRA LEONE is
a humanitarian organization operating in the country to strengthen capacity
building and institutional development in coping with future national demands.
The main objectives http://abc4all.net/local/generic/objectives.htm
of Local
ABC4All / SIERRA LEONE is to cater for vulnerable communities for a better and
sustainable living, including Child protection, Human Rights Advocacy, Education and Health. We also engage youth
in the Agro-sector and micro-grants. Presently, we are engaged in a range of
activities in complementing youth employment initiatives in the country,
especially in Education and Agro-sector. Our focus is engaging youth and the
less priviledged children in sustainable livelihood in Education, learning for
life or life skills, crop production, processing and marketing in the country.
We also
engage youth in skills training like computing, building and construction;
tailoring, motor mechanics and electrical installation; adult literacy. In
order to carry out these activities according to the project description plans
and objectives, we strongly need the following materials and resources for
better implementation.
School
building-rental per year administrative support for staff including salaries-logistics/teaching
materials/rentage.
Books are
really needed because most of these children are orphans, from poor family
background and single parenthood. They need clothing as well. This can help
them regain their self-esteem and respect. Most of them live in slum
communities. There are no health or sanitary facilities. Some of our children
(Target groups) are commonly called war child or rebel child. As a result, they
hardly mixed with the other child because they are always humiliated and molested.
Local ABC4All / SIERRA LEONE wants them to feel human so that they will regain
their lost self-esteem through psycho-social activities like counseling,
recreational activities, mediation and advocacy for those in conflict with the
law. Therefore contributions of books, clothing, shoes, bags, etc. are needed.
This can improve attendance, motivation and attentiveness. Feeding at least 3
times a day.
